Purpose of Clinical Initiative – Multidisciplinary Team Case Review
The purpose of this initiative will be to provide multidisciplinary teams across the country access to other professionals with knowledge and expertise in child abuse.
Goals of Clinical Initiative
1. To provide multidisciplinary teams with access to other child abuse professionals with knowledge and expertise in cases of suspected child abuse and neglect.
2. To provide an opportunity for review of child abuse cases by all members of the multidisciplinary team.
3. To enhance the quality of child abuse investigation, evaluation, and treatment for children seen in Child Advocacy Center’s across the country.
4. To provide an opportunity for multidisciplinary teams to receive feedback on the process of their multidisciplinary team meeting.
Design of Clinical Initiative
This clinical initiative will is designed to focus on multidisciplinary case review. One of the hallmarks of CAC’s is the case review process. This initiative allows for others to participate in that process without having to travel to that community.
Each month, one site will present a case from the perspective of the entire MDT. Each MDT member will bring their information to the session and present what they know as well as what they need assistance with. Participating sites will gather their local MDT to provide their expertise to the presenting site. This will allow for Law Enforcement to hear from other Law Enforcement offices, for CPS workers to hear from other CPS workers as well as the rest of the members of the MDT. Each session will last 90 minutes and for quality purposes will be limited to 6 sites. Sites participating in this initiative will be required to offer approximately one case during the calendar year for review.
