Purpose of Clinical Initiative – Peer Review of Forensic Interviews

The purpose of peer review of forensic interviews will be to provide the opportunity for participants to review forensic interviews, discuss specific interview techniques, and provide feedback regarding the quality of documentation.

Goals of Clinical Initiative

1.        To provide forensic interviewers the opportunity to network with other interviewers.

2.       To increase the knowledge of forensic interviewers.

3.       To provide the opportunity to discuss forensic interviews and provide feedback regarding those interviews in cases of suspected child abuse or neglect.

4.       To enhance the quality of documentation of forensic interviews in cases of suspected child abuse.

Design of Clinical Initiative

Peer Review for Forensic Interviews will occur monthly.  Sites participating in this initiative will be required to offer a minimum of one to two interviews to review during the calendar year.  Sites who do not videotape the forensic interview will be asked to lead a discussion on a pertinent piece of literature or study.  Sites should be prepared to discuss interviews during each session as time allows.  Each session will last two hours. Following will be the typical agenda for this peer review session.  In an effort to maintain the highest quality, this initiative will be limited to 8 participating sites.
