Hemophilia Treatment Center
Children’s Hospital has a hemophilia treatment center that serves children in central and northern Minnesota with hemophilia and other bleeding disorders. Physical therapy is an integral part of the treatment center.
Physical therapy services available include:
- assessment of joint health during annual comprehensive clinic evaluations
- direct physical therapy treatment to rehabilitate joints and muscles after bleeds
- aquatic therapy
- use of GaitRite® computerized walking analysis to identify signs of early joint damage
- educational opportunities for children and parents regarding joint health and the impact of hemophilia during various developmental stages, choices of physical activities, injury prevention
