Student Nurse Summer Internship

The Student Nurse Internship Program offers a unique opportunity for baccalaureate nursing students (and Children’s employed AD nursing students) to join our team of professionals in championing the special needs of children and their families. The program offers you the opportunity to:
- Enhance your student nurse experience in pediatric care
- Continue to develop skills in organizing and prioritizing care, family and patient teaching, discharge planning, and critical thinking
- Continue your employment after completion of the Student Nurse summer Internship as a Clinical Support Associate, Health Unit Coordinator and/or New Graduate RN, if available
- Prepare yourself for a future nursing role at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota
The program provides classroom experiences for a pediatric-specific orientation and a chance to participate in a skilled, collaborative community of nurses.
You’ll gain clinical experience working side by side with a pediatric RN in one of the following areas:
- Medical/Surgical Care
- Critical Care
- Neonatal Care
- Hematology/Oncology
- Emergency Department
While at Children’s, you will also learn about some of the outstanding services we offer in newborn and pediatric intensive care, outpatient and inpatient surgery, diagnostic services (including radiology and laboratory), and special programs in the areas of respiratory, cardiology, cancer, diabetes and nutrition, premature birth, adolescent development, child abuse, and epilepsy.
Employment is available at both the Children’s - Minneapolis and Children’s - St. Paul campuses. The positions are 32 to 36 hours-a-week from the beginning of June to mid-August.
