Nurses are invited to attend Research Day at University of Minnesota

The University of Minnesota School of Nursing is proud to sponsor Research Day on April 24th along with their clinical and corporate partners including Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota. For over 30 years, nursing researchers, educators, practicing nurses and students have gathered to discuss ways to improve health outcomes across our state through nursing related research.

Together, School of Nursing faculty and health provider organizations have partnered to identify clinical issues and design research studies to improve patient care. In part through the Densford Clinical Scholars Program projects have addressed issues such as children’s satisfaction with health care; dementia in hospitalized adults; Latino adolescent mental health; attitudes toward and use of integrated therapy; community-based support programs for Somali women; and asthma education for children.

This year, Research Day includes both oral and poster presentations on key health care issues facing us today. Topics include:

- Prevention of teen pregnancy
- Team COOL-prevention of childhood obesity
- Caregiving for patients with dementia
- Applying research to clinical practice
- Exercise to improve outcomes for patients with peripheral arterial disease
- Pediatric cystic fibrosis patients and quality of life
- Simulation training for pediatric emergencies
