Red-Vested Rockstar: Josh Olayiwola

Josh Olayiwola

Why Josh rocks? “I started volunteering because I love children and want to be a child psychologist, so what could be better than working at the children’s hospital. It is rewarding enough just to see the smiles on the children’s face, and it is rewarding knowing I was an impact in their lives, yet the children have impacted me.”

What is your favorite thing to do outside of volunteering? “Outside of Children’s, I love to hang out with friends, being active and when I’m not too busy, I still play a little bit of video games.”

Do you have any pets of kids of your own? “I do not have kids, but I do have an awesome dog named cooper that I call my baby!”

If you could create a new candy bar, what would be in it and what would you name it? “If I could create a candy bar, it would be called “Coco Yum Yum”. It would be like Cold Stone. You would choose ingredients that you would want into your chocolate bar then it would be frozen in front of you. “I Scream, You Scream, we all scream for Coco Yum Yum!”

Share a favorite volunteer experience or story: “My favorite experience was getting to see the same patient every week and getting to know him better. When we would play games and he won, he would say “I’m the best”, but when he lost, he would say, “It’s not always about winning” and would ask to play a game that he could win. I hadn’t realized how attached I became until after his last day at Children’s; I was happy that he no longer had to be at Children’s, however, I was sad that I would no longer see him. Bittersweet.”
