Red-Vested Rockstar: Shiloh Edwardh

Red Vested Rockstar Shiloh Edwardh

Why she ROCKS?! “I have a huge heart for kids. I learn from them as much as I teach them, if not more! I’m also a kid at heart, so coloring and playing with kiddos is right up my alley! I’m currently in school finishing my generals. My aspiration is to get my bachelors in Child Psychology and go further to eventually do child therapy, so I thought Children’s would be a great opportunity to get some experience in a similar field– and it has been!”

Favorite thing to do outside of volunteering? “I’m definitely a Minnesota girl and I love going to my cabin at the lake, camping, hiking, and being in nature every chance I get. I also love doing theatre, reading, painting, and spending time with friends and family.”

Do you have any kids or pets of your own? “I have a three-legged terrier named ‘Tres’…no joke. I don’t have any kids of my own but I nanny the sweetest little boy, which is pretty much the best job ever! I also have two younger sisters.”

If you could create a new candy bar, what would be in it and what would you name it? “I’d make a Christmas themed candy bar that was filled with whipped chocolate, peppermint, and brownies. It would be called Hot Cocoa Collision.”

Share a favorite volunteer experience or story: “It’s hard to pick just one! My favorite part of volunteering is the one-on-one time with the kids. Last week, I spent my whole shift playing with one little boy. We colored, played games, and I taught him the jellyfish fist bump. He cried when I had to leave which was so hard, but it’s a good feeling to know you made an impact on a child’s life, even just for a few hours. People think you have to do a lot to make a difference, but much of the time it’s the simple things that mean the most.”
