First Gift Program Gives Moccasins to American Indian Babies

Through the First Gift program, Children’s Minnesota is working together with the American Indian community to honor their traditions, including presenting moccasins to babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Special Care Nursery. The moccasins are made by adult and teen volunteers at the American Indian Center in Minneapolis. This is one of several programs Children’s Minnesota is sponsoring through its advocacy team and American Indian community liaison, Lisa Skjefte.
