Red Vest Review

Red-Vested Rockstar: Reyna Hutchison

Reyna HutchisonWhy she rocks: “I’m a student at the University of Minnesota, and hoping to eventually get into a physical therapy program. I have always loved working with kids so volunteering here at Children’s was a perfect combination of two of my passions!”

What is your favorite thing to do outside of volunteering? “I love to explore Minneapolis whether it’s on a run, trying new restaurants, or just walking around with friends. I also love sports and wouldn’t miss a chance to see the Vikings, Wild, or Twins play! In the summer, I spend as much time as possible on the lake or traveling.”

Do you have any kids or pets of your own? “I have a German Shepherd named Roxy at home and two cats. I am also the honorary aunt to all of my friends’ and sisters’ pets… I can’t get enough!”

If you could create a new candy bar, what would be in it and what would you name it? “It would definitely involve chocolate, caramel, peanut butter, almonds, and the stuff from the middle of a Twix bar. I think I would just mix it all together and hope it worked! The name is a work in progress; the inspiration would have to come after I tried it myself!”

Share a favorite volunteer experience or story: “I enjoy building relationships with the kids that I get to see week after week, volunteering in the Physical Therapy department. I had to miss almost an entire month at some point, and it was great to get back and have the kiddos and their families say they were asking about where I was. It’s always a great day when I get to be the background dancer while playing ‘just dance’ with patients, of course!”
