Children’s Minnesota Welcomes Volunteer Coordinator, Annie Dressen!

annie-dressenWhat excites you most about working at Children’s? “I love working directly with volunteers and the volunteers here at Children’s are really something special. I’m lucky to get to interact with volunteers who help kids feel better through their time, smiles, and laughter.”

Favorite thing to do outside of work? “In the summer, I love to be in my vegetable garden! I also enjoy riding bikes, traveling (especially the BWCAW), and spending time with friends and loved ones, especially my partner, Ted.”

Something unique or interesting about you? “I love “looking” for things, especially mushrooms and agates.”

Favorite Superhero? “Rogue from the X-Men. Rogue has the involuntary ability to absorb and sometimes also remove the memories, physical strength, and superpowers of anyone she touches, and often uses her power altruistically. Plus, I love her hair and audaciousness.”

Do you have any pets? “Yep! Tipper, my sort-of-rare female orange tabby cat (did you know most orange tabbies are males and most calicoes are females?) I’ve had for almost 13 years and our newest addition, Alden, a rescued basset/collie mix who is 12, half-deaf and half-blind. We’ve had him for about 2 months. We love them both the most.”

What words come to mind when you think of a volunteer? “Generous. Caring. Amazing. Loving. Spectacular. Selfless. Incredible. Thoughtful.”

If you could create a new candy bar, what would be in it and what would you name it? “Like my predecessor, Michelle, I would have to go with anything s’more flavored! Toasted marshmallow is a favorite flavor of mine.”
