Dr. Gigi Chawla joins panel discussion on the importance of early childhood education

Dr. Gigi Chawla, chief of general pediatrics, spoke on a panel after a screening of the documentary film No Small Matter hosted by MPR. No Small Matter is the first feature film to explore the most overlooked, underestimated and powerful force for good in America today: early childhood development. After the screening, Dr. Chawla and fellow panelists Rachel Giannini, early childhood advocate and former preschool teacher, Luiz Maria Frias, president and CEO of YWCA Minneapolis, and Eric Jolly, president and CEO of the St. Paul and Minneapolis Foundations, spoke on the importance of the first five years of early childhood development and the consequences for American families if these critical years continue to be ignored.
