MNAAP Hot Topics in Pediatrics Conference

The American Academy of Pediatrics Minnesota Chapter (MNAAP) is dedicated to being a voice for children’s health and well-being. They represent more than 1,000 pediatricians, pediatric providers and trainees.

Dr. Lindsey Yock from Children’s Minnesota sits on the board of directors of MNAAP and will be presenting at the annual conference in May. She also serves as the co-chair of the MNAAP Public Policy Committee. Other Children’s Minnesota doctors on the board of directors are Dr. Kelly Bergmann, Dr. Pamela Gigi Chawla, Dr. Angela Goepferd, Dr. Anupam Kharbanda and Dr. Sheldon Berkowitz (also the MNAAP president-elect).

Dr. Yock will be presenting at the Hot Topics in Pediatrics Conference about the advocacy work of MNAAP including strengthening immunization laws to reduce vaccine-preventable disease, expanding access to pediatric mental health services, reducing gun violence and promoting ongoing access to care by repealing the provider tax sunset.

There are several bills currently at the Minnesota Legislature that impact all of these priorities. Dr. Yock will be discussing possible outcomes of this legislative session.

Children’s Minnesota has an advocacy team that calls attention to health and health care issues that impact children and their families. You can also find out more about the advocacy work of Children’s by following them on Twitter @childrenspolicy.
