In honor of National HIV Testing Day, we would like to recognize some of the amazing work done by Children’s perinatal and pediatric HIV program.
This program provides specialized HIV services such as medical consultation and care, perinatal care coordination, and HIV family medical case management. Peer navigators can also help enhance the health and well-being of our clients and their families.
The perinatal and pediatric HIV program is supported in full by federal Ryan White grants. Under Dr. Laura Hoyt’s leadership, the program has grown from one part-time nurse in 2003 to the current team of eight staff members. Our team comprises a program coordinator, perinatal HIV nurse coordinator, three HIV family case managers and three peer navigators.
Children’s currently serves 86 individuals with medical case management, which includes intensive, family-centered, long-term medical and psychosocial support for HIV-infected pregnant people, children and youth.
