Children’s Minnesota postpones elective surgeries during COVID-19 pandemic

The latest guidelines from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend that all elective non-urgent care be postponed so healthcare organizations can focus resources on urgent needs and minimize social interaction to slow the spread of COVID-19. With an abundance of care, Children’s Minnesota has made the decision to align with the CDC and postpone all elective surgeries.

If your child is scheduled for an elective surgery, it is postponed until further notice, unless you have been contacted by your surgeon that your case is still scheduled. You will also receive a call from Children’s Minnesota notifying you of the postponement and with an aim towards providing answers to any questions you may have.

At this time, we do not have a timeline for rescheduling these surgeries. As soon as we are able to, our scheduling team will contact you with details to reschedule.

We understand that postponing surgeries may impact the life of your child and family, and deeply appreciate your patience and understanding while our community is experiencing this public health emergency.
