Children’s Minnesota and MNAAP host COVID-19 webinar

Approximately 125 pediatric health care professionals from across Minnesota tuned in for a webinar co-sponsored by Children’s Minnesota and the Minnesota chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (MNAAP): COVID-19: What are pediatric practices doing differently?

To respond to the new global pandemic, health care providers around the world, including right here in Minnesota, have quickly and radically adjusted clinic operations in the face of COVID-19.  Panelists from four health systems shared how their pediatric practices have responded, including adjusting staffing and care delivery, and rapidly adopting telehealth.  Panelists included:

  • Emily Chapman, MD, chief medical officer and senior vice president of medical affairs at Children’s Minnesota.
  • Laura Ringuette, MD, pediatrician at Hennepin Healthcare.
  • Katie Smentek, MD, pediatrician at Mankato Clinic.
  • Marcie Billings, MD, pediatrician at Mayo Clinic.

Participants also heard from state epidemiologist, Ruth Lynfield, MD, Minnesota Department of Health (MDH). The webinar was moderated by Sheldon Berkowitz, MD, MNAAP president elect and physician at Children’s Minnesota.

Thank you to all the presenters, participants and our partners at MNAAP who conducted the live event!
