The first-ever Virtual Walk for Amazing raises $158,854 to support Children’s Minnesota

Over 750 participants joined us during the month of May for the first-ever Virtual Walk for Amazing – and what a fun month it was!

About the event

Our annual Walk for Amazing event had to be come virtual due to COVID-19 this year. Instead of meeting up at U.S. Bank Stadium, we rallied our families at home. We invited them to walk, play, climb, dance — whatever got their hearts pumping — and to raise money for Children’s Minnesota.

Even though we went virtual this year, Walk for Amazing remained a celebration of our extended family — our patients, their care teams, siblings, parents and everyone who believes that kids deserve amazing health care.

It was a chance to share stories, connect with others and do some good. People did so on our Virtual Walk for Amazing Facebook group – catch up on all the fun here.

Why Virtual Walk for Amazing is important

Now more than ever, in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, Children’s Minnesota is relying on the support of the community to continue to deliver a special kind of kid-focused care, safely and effectively.

People had the opportunity to choose which program at Children’s Minnesota to support with their donation and fundraising dollars. They could choose a program that has been important in their life, or someone they love.

During this unprecedented time of uncertainty, we also invited our community to support our Urgent Needs Fund. This allows our organization the most flexibility to allocate philanthropic funds immediately to where they are needed most.

How Virtual Walk for Amazing helped Children’s Minnesota

Walk for Amazing is a celebratory fundraising event supporting the many specialty areas at Children’s Minnesota, and this year, more than $158,854 was raised to support those areas.

Because people were at home due to the stay-at-home orders, teams turned into households instead. Households continued to raise money for Children’s Minnesota even through these unprecedented times.

We really felt the love, all month of May long!
