On Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021, Children’s Hospital Association published an open letter signed by 70 health care leaders from across the country emphasizing the growing concern over the current strain on pediatric health systems.
Dr. Marc Gorelick, president and CEO of Children’s Minnesota, was among the leaders calling for action to protect kids in the community.
The letter ran in The New York Times and the Los Angeles Times, and called for immediate action, including:
- All eligible populations should be vaccinated.
- Everyone should mask responsibly, particularly during school and while attending large gatherings.
- All should adhere to proven safe practices of social distancing and hand washing.
Dr. Gorelick spoke with MPR’s Cathy Wurzer about the impact of COVID-19 and RSV in straining health systems. Listen to Dr. Gorelick’s recommendations for those going back to school and why it’s more important than ever to mask up and get vaccinated.
