Dr. Angela Kade Goepferd receives Youth Champion Award from QUEERSPACE collective

Children’s Minnesota would like to congratulate Dr. Angela Kade Goepferd, chief education officer and medical director of the Gender Health program, on receiving QUEERSPACE collective’s inaugural Youth Champion Award. The award is designed to recognize LGBTQ+ individuals who have shown a deep commitment in their personal and professional lives to create space for LGBTQ+ youth to feel safe and empowered to be their true selves.

Dr. Goepferd was recognized as a steadfast advocate for the health and well-being of LGBTQ+ youth and families in the community, particular transgender and gender diverse kids. During the current Minnesota legislative session, they have testified in support of the Trans Refuge Bill and a bill to ban conversion therapy.

QUEERSPACE collective is a nonprofit mentorship program created specifically for LGBTQ+ youth in the Twin Cities. According to the organization’s 2021 Impact Report, 85% of mentees identify as transgender or gender non-confirming.

Dr. Goepferd accepted the award April 26, 2023, at the QUEERSPACE collective’s 2nd Annual Birthday Bash.
