Personal Biography

Melissa Claar APRN, CPNP is a pediatric nurse practitioner who attended the College of St. Catherine during undergraduate and graduate studies. Early in her career she was drawn towards making a difference within pediatric hematology/oncology, working as a clinical nurse associate and registered nurse within Children's MN. Upon achieving her pediatric nurse practitioner certification in 2008 she continued serving patients/families in this area while specializing in leukemia, lymphoma and disorders of hemoglobin at the University of MN Masonic Children's Hospital for more than a decade. Melissa's passion for empowering and providing superior care for those affected by sickle cell disease led her to join the pediatric hematology team at Children's MN in early 2020. In her spare time, she enjoys playing board games and hitting the ski slopes with her family &/or friends. Yoga helps her stay centered and cooking for those she loves brings her joy.
