Personal Biography

Dr. Andrew Kiragu is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota and an Associate of the Children’s Respiratory and Critical Care Specialist’s group. He provides pediatric critical care at Children’s of Minnesota, Gillette Children’s Hospital and Hennepin Healthcare. He is a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine and the American Academy of Pediatrics. After his undergraduate studies at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada, he graduated from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC. He completed residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, and fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care at the University of Minnesota. As a pediatric intensivist, Dr. Kiragu cares for critically ill and injured children and has particular expertise in neurotrauma and neurocritical care. He is also engaged in injury prevention efforts statewide and nationally and serves on the boards of Safe Kids Minnesota, the Injury Free Coalition for Kids and is on the Executive Council of the AAP’s Council of Injury, Violence and Poison Prevention. Dr. Kiragu is a Past President of the Minnesota Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
