Personal Biography
As of July 1, 2017, I am the Medical Director of Philanthropy. Previously, I was the Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer at Children's of Minnesota since 2001. I attended the University of Minnesota and Hebrew University in Jerusalem as an undergraduate and received a Bachelor's degree in Near East History. I attended the University of Minnesota Medical School where I also did my pediatric residency. I did a pediatric gastroenterology fellowship at UCLA. From 1982 to 1994 I was a private pediatric gastroenterologist with Digestive Healthcare which is now Minnesota Gastroenterology. In 1994 I moved into an administrative role at Children's, as director of Ambulatory Services, then vice president of system advancement with additional responsibilities for strategic planning, new business development and operational duties. I received an MBA at the University of St. Thomas - Minneapolis in 1998. I have written, presented, and published on issues of management and quality in healthcare locally, regionally and nationally. I teach quality assurance / quality improvement / quality control to healthcare providers at the University of St. Thomas the Physician Leadership College (PLC). Starting in the Fall of 2017, I will be the Director of the PLC. I am married with three sons and 3 beautiful granddaughters. My hobby is the study of American Presidential history.
