Children’s Minnesota videos receive industry awards

 Several videos produced by Children’s Minnesota have won industry awards from the Viddy Awards, Communicator Awards, and Telly Awards.

Cancer research program (Luke’s story) 

Dr. Anne Bendel, pediatric neuro-oncologist in the health system’s cancer and blood disorders program, was named the Harper Family Foundation Endowed Chair for Novel Therapies and Cancer Research. This honor is thanks to a generous $2 million gift by the Harper Family Foundation. In recognition of this endowment, Children’s Minnesota shared Luke’s cancer story to show how donations help patients just like Luke. This video received three industry awards: 

  • Award of Excellence in the film and video general fundraising category from the Communicator Awards. 
  • Bronze Award in the fundraising category from the Telly Awards.  
  • Platinum Winner in the fundraiser non-broadcast long-form video category from the Viddy Awards.

Neonatal Program (Ruby and Vivian’s story) 

Children’s Minnesota is home to the largest high-risk neonatal care program in the upper Midwest. To promote this program, we produced a video following Ruby and Vivian, twins who were born at just 2 pounds 8 ounces combined. Watch the video above, which won three industry awards: 

  • Award of Distinction in the film and video nonprofit category from the Communicator Awards. 
  • Silver Award in the not-for-profit category from the Telly Awards.  
  • Gold Winner in the non-profit non-broadcast long-form video category from the Viddy Awards.

Asthma: Pediatric Patient Education series 

Children’s Minnesota produced a four-video series to help educate patient families on caring for kids with asthma. The series touched on topics such as asthma action plans, inhalers, medications and avoiding triggers. Click here to watch the video series, which won one industry award:

Jolt of Joy: The Hill Family 

The Hills were surprised when they found out they were having spontaneous triplets. But they already knew where they wanted to deliver — The Mother Baby Center in Minneapolis. They wanted to be close to the NICU where their first daughter Vada had received wonderful care after she was born. The video about the Hill Family won one award: 

  • Award of Distinction in the non-profit category from the Communicator Awards.

The SHARE Inpatient Experience (RNs, CSAs, EMTs and lab techs) 

At Children’s Minnesota, we are proud to be the Kid Experts, which means that we strive to be every family’s essential partner in raising heathier children. As part of our mission, a video was produced to help clinical staff learn how to effectively and efficiently work with families. Before he was born, Xander was diagnosed with two conditions that would give less than a 50% chance of survival. On top of that, he was born 6 weeks early. Xander’s family expressed profound thanks to all of Xander’s care team, but especially his nurses. But what does it mean to be a nurse? Listen to what the Kid Experts have to say. This tribute to nursing won an industry award:

Foundation Thanksgiving 2022 message
