Red-Vested Rockstar: Meet Sasha

Why she rocks: “I'm currently a junior at Eastview High School and started volunteering because I wanted to get exposure to what being a volunteer meant. Children's was a great fit for me because I felt like I was really making a difference in the lives of the kids and families I was interacting with. I love being able to come in every week and meet someone new!”

Red-Vested Rockstar: Meet Julia

Why she rocks: "My love of helping children is what got me into volunteering. I am a freshman at the University of Minnesota, and I am interested in going into medicine, so why not combine two things I am interested in! Throughout my time at Children’s, my passion for healthcare has only grown. Volunteering isn’t something I have to do, it is something I love to do."

Children’s Volunteer Services Welcomes Coordinator, Michelle!

What excites you most about working at Children’s? “I was a volunteer here for two years and also held an internship in the volunteer services office last summer. Children's seems like home to me and I am so excited to be able to spend a lot of my time here!”

Choosing Children’s: Sydney Mueller

“For a three-year period, clinics and hospitals became a routine place for my family and me.  My brother was diagnosed with brain cancer when he was just three years old, I was eight at the time.  Throughout these seemingly endless visits, the most vivid memories I have are of Children’s hospital.  I remember not being as upset about going into the big building, because there was always something exciting waiting on the inside.  At Children’s it wasn’t just doctors and needles, it was activity books and dollhouses.  Along with these luxuries came the most invaluable prize of all, my brother’s health.  My family and I are so very grateful for the wonderful treatment and attention the whole family was given.  When Children’s healed my brother, they healed my family.

At Children’s, we want our families to feel welcomed and comfortable from the moment they walk through the front door to when they leave the parking lot. Volunteers at our Welcome Center help provide that warm environment by answering family questions, and escorting them to their appointments.
