Registration for Race for Children’s: HeartBeat 5000 is open now! Join us for either a chip-timed 5K run/walk or 1 mile walk.

7:30 AM – Registration Opens
9:00 AM – Kids Fun Run
9:30 AM – 5K Run/Walk
9:45 AM – 1 Mile Walk

Packet pick up will be available before the race. More information will be available closer to the event.

Parking is available in multiple ramps on both the downtown Minneapolis and St. Anthony Main sides of the river. Free shuttle buses will be running along Washington Avenue, across the river and down University Avenue to the start line to accommodate participants parking in further ramps.  Buses will be available from 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

There will be kid-friendly activities before and after the race, including bounce houses, face-painting, entertainment, music and more. We hope you can make it this year to join together and support kids!

When is the 2017 Race for Children’s: HeartBeat 5000? Saturday, June 24, 2017

Where does the 2017 Race for Children’s: HeartBeat 5000 take place? Father Hennepin Bluffs Park. 420 Main St. SE, Minneapolis

How do I register? Register here.

What is the Kids Fun Run? This takes place on Main Street and is no more than a block and a half long. It is split into two heats: kids age 4 and under and kids ages 5-9. Parents can run alongside their kids if they would like. It’s a Fun Run where everyone is a winner and receives a prize and a ribbon.

What is the 1 mile walk? The 1 mile walk takes place on Main Street, which is cobblestone. There are sidewalks available on either side of the street, should you prefer to walk on a smoother surface. Please wear comfortable footwear. Participants will start and end in the same location.

Can I participate in both the 5K run/walk and the 1 mile walk? The 1 mile walk will take place during the 5K so you may only participate in one. The good news is, you can decide which race you would like to participate in day of if you are unsure!

Is the 1 mile walk chip-timed? No, only the 5K run/walk will be chip-timed.

I’ve been given cash and checks to donate to our team’s online fundraising. What do I do with it? Send it in the mail to: Race for Children’s: HeartBeat 5000 at Children’s Foundation 5901 Lincoln Drive Edina, MN 55436. It will take a few days after the donation is received to show up in your online total. Checks can be made out to ‘HeartBeat 5000.’ Please be sure to write down what team it is sponsoring.

Are strollers allowed? Yes. Please note that the 5K run/walk begins on cobblestone and the entire 1 mile walk takes place on cobblestone.

Do I have to register anyone in a stroller? Children 2 and under are free. However, we would still like you to register them online.

Can I bring my dog? Yes, however, please note that Race for Children’s: HeartBeat 5000 is not responsible for your dog and it must be kept on a leash at all times and is your responsibility.

Do you have packet pick up before race day? Packet pick up will be available before the race. More information will be available closer to the event.

What if the weather is bad on the day of the event? Race for Children’s: HeartBeat 5000 is a rain-or-shine event and there is no back-up date. If severe weather occurs, the start of the walk/run may be postponed for several minutes until the weather passes. If the storm is persistent, the event may be cancelled. These decisions will be made at the event, and will be announced at the start line and at the registration area. Because this is an important fundraiser, it is our policy to not issue refunds in the unlikely event that the event is cancelled.
