An open wound of the jaw is a cut or break in the skin there. The wound may be minor and near the surface of the skin. Or it can be more serious, affecting deeper tissues of the jaw, such as nerves, blood vessels, or bone.

More to Know

A wound on a child's face or neck requires medical attention. Doctors may try to close the wound with stitches, tape, or an adhesive glue.
