March theme: Dreams – Reaching for the stars
Diabetes Connect is a network for children with diabetes and their families to connect with others on the same journey. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month (October-April) from 5:30-6:15 p.m.
Living with type 1 diabetes is not easy, whether you are newly diagnosed or have had diabetes for several years. The Children’s Minnesota Diabetes Connect group is a brave space for children and teens who are living with type 1 diabetes to connect with one another. This group is especially helpful for children who are the only diabetics at their school or in their community.
Each month focuses on a different theme. Children will explore this theme through age-appropriate conversation, art, music, movement and creative interactions. Child life specialists and music therapists offer children and teens the opportunity to learn, explore, and gain understanding about a variety of diabetes management topics.
Siblings of children with type 1 diabetes are also welcome to join a separate sibling group that meets at the same time.
Registration
Parents/guardians can register their child or teen to join the virtual group by emailing Alicia at [email protected]
When a parent/guardian registers their child or teen for Diabetes Connect, a link will be sent with information to join the WebEx meeting.
