To minimize unnecessary testing and cost, clinicians will receive a new alert when attempting to order a repeat Endotracheal Culture and Gram Stain (ETT) or Tracheal Aspirate Culture and Gram Stain within 72 hours. A repeat culture within 72 hours is not recommended and is against the Children’s MN guideline for obtaining respiratory cultures in the PICU.
