Effective November 7, 2023
Changes have been made to improve the administration and safety of insulin ordering. The Insulin Sub-Q Food Bolus and Correction Bolus order can be found within the Insulin (PP) Sub-Q Inj PowerPlan.
Note: The changes do not affect the ordering of the following:
- One time doses
- Scheduled doses (i.e. Q HS)
- Dilute Insulin order
- Insulin Pump order
To order, select the Insulin (PP) Sub-Q Inj PowerPlan and select the Insulin Sub-Q Food Bolus and Correction Bolus order.
Click Orders for Signature which will open the Insulin Food Bolus and Correction Scale PowerForm.

If the Insulin Food Bolus and Correction Scale order needs to be modified, go to Patient Care orders, locate the Insulin Food Bolus and Correction (Calculator PowerForm) order, right-click and select Cancel/Reorder.
Note: Do not modify the insulin order.
This new way of ordering will provide nursing with a calculation tool to assist with insulin dosing.
