Expressions of grief and ways of supporting those who are grieving can vary by cultural groups. Children’s Minnesota recognizes that some cultural communities have specialized support for members of their communities.
The death of a child is both heart-breaking and life-changing. Children's Minnesota offers programs intended to give comfort and support to families during the first year and beyond. Support Groups provide a safe space where family members can talk about their child, and connect and share support with others who have experienced a similar loss. Grief Education Programs offer families the opportunity to learn, explore and gain some understanding about a variety grief topics. Grief related events offer families the chance to participate in a gathering where their child and other children will be remembered.
Bereavement Services offers support, education and referrals to families in the Children’s Minnesota system after the death of their child. We acknowledge the profound grief that comes with a child’s death and encourage families to honor their grief and the memory of their child.
We understand that preparing for the holidays can be challenging. The Children's Minnesota Bereavement Advisory Team (BAT), along with Children's Minnesota staff, is hosting "Grieving Through the Holidays," an event to help you connect with other bereaved families who are preparing for the holidays.
This is the first in a series about Team Superstars runners who will participate in the marathon on behalf of Children’s inaugural charity running team.
