The Mother Baby Center, a partnership between Allina Health and Children’s Minnesota, is pleased to announce all three Mother Baby Centers in Minneapolis, St. Paul and Coon Rapids have been named as 2022-2023 High Performing hospitals for Maternity Care (Uncomplicated Pregnancy) by U.S. News & World Report.

Michaela and Nic were excited to welcome their first baby, Xander. The pregnancy was going smoothly until a growth scan at 32 weeks. Only a week before Christmas, Michaela was told her baby was in heart failure and she needed to get to a hospital that provided expert fetal and neonatal he needed.

Awareness for disparities in Black maternal health

Black maternal care was the topic of a 2021 Children’s Minnesota podcast, Talking Pediatrics, where Dr. Lisa Saul, president of The Mother Baby clinical service line, discussed the stark maternal health disparities Black mothers experience and how we can approach maternal-fetal medicine with an equity lens to make sure that all women and all babies have the healthy outcomes they deserve.

National Neonatal Nurses Week 2021

In honor of Neonatal Nurses Week, September 13-19, 2021, we are highlighting Jill Bauer, registered nurse and health professional liaison for neonatal at Children’s Minnesota. Jill has been an RN for 40 years and has been a NICU nurse for 36 years.

One family’s experience at The Mother Baby Center at Mercy hospital

At only 33 weeks pregnant, Danielle was rushed to The Mother Baby Center at Mercy. She was then diagnosed with placental abruption and preeclampsia. She was rushed to the operating room and minutes later, she gave birth to Freya.
