Despite the mental health services offered by expert organizations and health care systems in Minnesota, we know there is a gap in services for children and families challenged by mental health issues.
Children’s Minnesota is working to integrate mental health services into primary care, building on our already-existing outpatient mental health services. But we know that we need solutions to go beyond Children’s alone. So, we are also focused on identifying partnerships with other organizations that have complementary expertise and/or direct relationships with children and families.
Through these emerging partnerships, our goal is to better serve families seeking support for mental health concerns and, ultimately, to mitigate the need for inpatient services by keeping kids in or close to their homes. Thanks to the advocacy work of Minnesota’s mental health community, notable progress has been made over the last several years in public investments in the system. More remains to be done and Children’s is committed to continued advocacy.
