Fill A Room With Care
Children’s Minnesota is making the hospital feel more like home through the Fill A Room With Care program. Through this program and the support of generous donors, Children’s Minnesota has created 280 private patient rooms in Minneapolis and St. Paul as part of a campus expansion project.
About the room
The design of the rooms was the result of a collaborative effort that included staff, families and, most importantly, patients — all who provided their input on an ideal patient room. The resulting spaces are bigger, brighter and more accommodating for patients, families and care teams.
- The private patient rooms feature technology and amenities that improve the quality of care.
- Patients benefit from an interactive entertainment system including a flat-screen TV, DVD player and video game console. This system is a piece of home for the kids and helps distract them from medical treatments.
- Parents benefit from a comfortable living space including a sofa bed, a connectivity workstation and a personal refrigerator. Parents have the peace of mind of knowing they can be with their child 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Caregivers benefit from more space for patient-dedicated equipment and medications. This allows for more personalized care in a more comfortable environment.
Why others have given
Why have others given to the Fill A Room With Care program? Here are a few reasons.
“Being a local business, we’re fortunate to be able to support Children’s Minnesota as they renovate and expand their hospital to improve the already world-class care they provide. Many of our clients have needed to utilize the Children’s Minnesota emergency room or have had a stay on an inpatient unit. We hope that we have been able to help them out by contributing to a new private patient room at Children’s Minnesota. We invite other businesses in the community to help kids and families during their stays at Children’s Minnesota.”

“I know all too well how head injuries impact the game of hockey and am well aware of the rise in concussions among youth athletes. From my visits to Children’s Minnesota, I’ve come to appreciate that many kids aren’t lucky enough to be able to play sports. Instead they are fighting seizures, cancer or another medical condition. I am fortunate enough to be able to give back, and hopefully, help these kids get back to being kids. My hope is that others will do the same.”

Patient family sponsor
“We support Fill a Room with Care as a way to express our gratitude for the amazing care our daughter, Emerson, received at Children’s Minnesota. This is a very special place to us. We hope to help other families who face the challenges we saw. Our family’s experience reminds us of just how fortunate we are to have a place like Children’s Minnesota in our community.”
