Perioperative services at Children’s
Kids from throughout the Upper Midwest come to Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota to have surgeries. In fact, more than 19,000 surgeries are performed each year on fetuses, newborns, children, adolescents and young adults. Intraoperative nursing care is provided to all patients receiving diagnostic and therapeutic surgical procedures in a highly technical and safe environment.
Board-certified pediatric surgeons and pediatric anesthesiologists perform general, gynecological, hand, cardiovascular, dental/oral, ophthalmologic, oncologic, otolaryngologic, orthopedic, pulmonary, spine, thoracic, neurologic, gastroenterologic, urologic, plastic and reconstructive, and vascular anomaly surgeries. Advanced surgical technologies such as the DaVinci Robot and interoperative MRI are available either at Children’s or via strategic partnerships.
Outpatient surgeries are performed in operating rooms of outpatient surgery centers in Minneapolis, St. Paul, and Minnetonka.
Children’s – Minneapolis has nine inpatient operating rooms, full pre- and post-operative care facilities, plus two operating rooms as part of the cardiovascular care center.
Children’s – St. Paul has seven surgery suites, full pre- and post-operative care facilities, and short-stay/observation care.
