Lyme Disease

Say: LIME DIH-zeez

Lyme disease is an infection caused by a bacteria found in animals like deer and mice. Ticks love to suck blood and feed on these animals, then infect people through tick bites.

People who get sick from Lyme disease feel tired and sore all over. Many will get a red circular rash (often called a bulls-eye rash) around the tick bite. If treated with antibiotics early, Lyme disease symptoms usually will go away. The best way to prevent Lyme disease is to prevent tick bites.
