Everyone should be called by the right name and pronouns. To provide a safe and inclusive care experience for all our patients, including our gender diverse patients, Children’s Minnesota is improving the way we capture and display the patient’s chosen name and pronouns in our Cerner EHR and printed patient care documents. These improvements eliminate the emotional harm caused when we use a patient’s former name, or birth name, and incorrect pronouns.
Cerner is implementing new tools to review and add outside records such as allergies, documents, immunizations, medications, problems, and procedures as part of the Seamless Exchange initiative.
The Cerner Standard Banner Bar will display for hospital nursing positions (RN, UOC and CSA). This brings standardization across the organization to ensure all positions are viewing the same information. The majority of changes are aesthetic. Pertinent information is still present but may be in a slightly different location with some new added features.
