Personal Biography
Kavita Desai Dakoji, PhD, LP, is a pediatric psychologist in the Department of Pain Medicine, Integrative Medicine, and Palliative Care since September 2011. She earned her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Michigan and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Bowling Green State University. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Nationwide Children's Hospital (Columbus, Ohio) and post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Michigan Health System, before joining Children's Minnesota. Dr. Desai Dakoji primarily sees patients referred for pain treatment in the context of the Interdisciplinary Pain Clinic. She utilizes cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy styles, and particularly enjoys teaching about the mind-body connection, biofeedback, and relaxation training. She enjoys working with youth who have experienced pain concerns as well as other medical conditions to help them return to their normal life. In addition to clinical work, Dr. Desai Dakoji enjoys teaching other health professionals about pain treatment and the role of integrative modalities. She is the co-director of the Pediatric Pain Master Class, a 7-day intensive course teaching health professionals about all aspects of pediatric pain assessment and treatment.
