Children’s Minnesota infection preventionist honored with DAISY Award for advancing health equity

Congratulations to Adriene Thornton, BSN, MA, CIC, FAPIC, infection preventionist at Children’s Minnesota, for being honored, as part of the Twin Cities Black Nurses Rock chapter, with a DAISY Award for advancing health equity!

The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide patients and families. Families themselves nominate the nurses who have positively impacted their lives.

Black Nurses Rock Inc. is an organization with a focus to foster a positive environment of professional growth and development. They provide support and mentorship to nurses in an effort to elevate their profession and improve their communities.

Governor Tim Walz presented the group with the award on Thursday, June 3, 2021.

He tweeted in honor of this special award saying, “As our state faced challenge after challenge over the last year, Black Nurses Rock stepped up, with innovation and compassion, at every turn. Whether it was testing, PPE, or vaccines, they got it to those who needed it.”

Please join us in congratulating Adriene and the rest of the Twin Cities Black Nurses Rock chapter on this remarkable achievement!
