Surgical technologist shares her two-year career experience at Children’s Minnesota

Rachel, surgical technologist at the Children’s Minnesota Surgery Center in Minnetonka, has been working at Children’s Minnesota for almost two years now. She is sharing insight into her career and what inspires her to do what she does.

What’s your position and how long have you been at Children’s Minnesota?

“I’m a surgical technologist and I’ve been at Children’s Minnesota since May 2022.”

What do you see as your unique value or special talent that you bring to the team and this role?

“We all work together as a team, so my special talent is being a crucial part of an important team that cares for all of our important patients and their families.”

What inspires you to work with children, to care for kids in the way that you do?

“Children will always surprise you in the most unexpected ways. They are more resilient than we give them credit for. I love sharing just the little time I get to spend with them before they fall asleep.”

What makes you excited to come to work? What makes you feel satisfied at the end of the day?

“I’m excited to be with my coworkers, and I love that at the end of a busy day, we get to look at all that we have accomplished.”

How do you feel like you get to make a difference in your work?

“Each day, I am privileged to work with a team of caring coworkers to make some child’s life better than when they arrived.”
