New grad RN training: Transition to Practice Program

Children’s Minnesota offers a unique Transition to Practice Program designed to support newly licensed nurses to the professional nursing environment using combinations of didactic and precepted clinical experiences. We provide a welcoming environment and extra support for the transition from academia to practice.

ANCC Practice Transition Accreditation Program® (PTAP)

Transition to Practice Program is accredited with distinction as a Practice Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs.

The current sites included in this accreditation with distinction designation are:

  1. Children’s Minnesota – Minneapolis Campus
  2. Children’s Minnesota – St. Paul Campus
  3. The Mother Baby Center at Mercy with Children’s Minnesota

  1. Medical-Surgical
  2. Critical Care
  3. Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
  4. Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

How to apply

The Transition to Practice program will be offered in several sessions throughout the year. Interested candidates should watch for “New Grad RN” postings on our website careers page.

Students may apply prior to graduation, provided they will have completed their degree and NCLEX prior to the program start date. Candidates may continue to apply for this program for up to one year after graduation.
