Children’s Minnesota receives Twins of the Year award from the World Federation of Hemophilia

This award comes from work with Tikur Anbessa Hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

The World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) honored the Children’s Minnesota Center for Bleeding and Clotting Disorders and our twin organization, Tikur Anbessa Hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Twins of the Year for 2021. Children’s Minnesota has been an official Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) Twinning Partner with Addis Ababa since 2019.

Through WFH, successful, established hemophilia treatment centers (HTC) – like at Children’s Minnesota – can apply to partner with emerging hemophilia treatment centers in countries around the globe. As part of this partnership, Children’s Minnesota helps to provide education and training to staff and patients at Addis Ababa. We also assisted in acquisition of needed lab equipment, medical supplies and hemophilia factor.

At Children’s Minnesota, this project was spearheaded by Susan Kearney, MD, and Nicole Hart, RN. Congratulations to the entire Children’s Minnesota Center for Bleeding and Clotting Disorders on this remarkable recognition!
