There's no one right age for makeup. A lot depends on your family and what is the normal practice in your neighborhood or community. So the answer here is you really do need to check with your mom or dad. But you can tell them that some girls start using a little bit of makeup in middle school. By high school, makeup is common.

If you are allowed to start using makeup, go light. Girls tend to look best when makeup enhances their good looks instead of overpowering them! If you'd like to wear makeup, but your mom and dad won't let you yet, ask for some specifics. You could ask for permission to wear something like lip gloss and talk about what limits they'd like to set whenever you are allowed to wear makeup.
