What is the difference between walk-in Ready Care and other types of care?

There are many different types of care options around you from emergency departments to urgent care and to walk-in care. We know that it can be confusing to know which care option is right for your child at the time, find out more below.

Walk-in Ready Care is typically best when your child may be experiencing something that recently started and is of a non-severe nature. It is not for urgent or emergency cases.

See the list above for the conditions we treat at our walk-in Ready Care clinics.

If your child needs a well child check-up, has ongoing symptoms such as stomachaches and headaches, or special or complex health care needs, we recommend making a primary care appointment.

You may also make a primary care appointment for any symptoms on our list of conditions cared for at a walk-in Ready Care appointment if you prefer a set day and time for your appointment. See the list mentioned above.

If your child is experiencing a life-threatening emergency call 9-1-1 right away. If your child is experiencing anything severe, it is recommended you go to an emergency department.

You should take your child to an emergency department if they need access to an MRI, ultrasound or CT, if they need a fracture set, if they may need more advanced lab tests or if they need access to specialists on site. These conditions and needs are best suited for emergency departments rather than walk-in care.
