Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota supports health professionals throughout the Upper Midwest who provide emergency and trauma care to children in several ways.

Children’s Physician Access Hotline

If you’re health professional, Children’s 1,700 experts are just one call away. Children’s Physician Access is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A representative will stay on the line throughout the call to assist with referrals, consultations and admissions and to provide general information. Call 866-755-2121 or 612-343-2121.

Transportation by ambulance, helicopter or airplane

Through Children’s Physician Access, you can organize transport to Children’s for a critically ill child is provided to Children’s – Minneapolis and Children’s – St. Paul from any distance in the Upper Midwest. Neonatal and pediatric transport teams, which operate via ambulance, helicopter or airplane, are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Call 866-755-2121 or 612-343-2121.

Transfer for patients requiring ECMO services

ECMO services are provided for both neonatal and pediatric patients with severe respiratory and/or cardiac insufficiency that is unresponsive to mechanical ventilation and medical therapy. Staff are available 24 hours a day for professional consultation, patient transport or provision of ECMO. (Note: ECMO is available only at Children’s –Minneapolis.) Victims of child abuse and neglect

Children’s collaborates with Midwest Children’s Resource Center on examinations, assessments, interventions and follow-up care for children who are sexually, physically or emotionally abused or who are neglected. Call 651-220-6750.

Medical education

Children’s offers a pediatric emergency medicine fellowship training program for board-certified pediatricians who want to become board-certified in pediatric emergency medicine. For more information, call our graduate medical education office at 612-813-6206.
