Children’s Minnesota is here to assist you with your financial needs.  We are committed to treating any child in need, regardless of their ability to pay.  Our financial assistance policy provides eligible patients assistance with emergency or other medically necessary health care and services.

All emergency and medically necessary health care services provided by Children’s Minnesota are eligible for financial assistance.

Who is eligible for financial assistance?

Patients who:

  • Complete “Children’s Minnesota Financial Assistance Application” (see below)
  • Qualify based on the application after review by the Financial Counseling office

What types of financial assistance are available?

If you have insurance, you qualify for an additional 30% discount off the patient portion of the bill if you:

  1. Earn less than 350% of the federal poverty guidelines (adjusted for family size)
  2. Provide all requested documentation to verify income

If you have no insurance or no coverage for a medically necessary service, you qualify for a discount if you:

  1. Have an income of less than $125,000 annually
  2. Earn less than 350% of the federal poverty guidelines (adjusted for family size)
  3. Provide all requested documentation to verify income

Patients eligible for a discount will be charged no more than amounts generally billed; presently this discount is 59% for hospital and hospital-based clinics, 47% for community clinics.

How to apply for financial assistance at Children’s Minnesota

Our financial counselors are available to assist you with concerns related to medical expenses and walk you through the financial assistance process.  You may call us, stop in our offices, or  use our application. The application form is available as an online form or as a PDF.

Please allow 2-3 weeks for processing. You will be notified in writing once a decision has been made or if additional information is needed.
