The Child Life Zone

Kids come first at The Child Life Zone. Located on our Children’s Minnesota St. Paul campus, The Zone is a unique space where patients and their families play, learn, laugh and relax. Built through support from Garth Brooks’ Teammates for Kids Foundation, this state-of-the-art environment provides children and teens a place to connect with others and explore healing therapies while doing what they love.
Staffed by child life specialists, The Child Life Zone features a variety of experiences for all ages:
- Expressive arts and crafts center
- Microsoft media wall with a multitude of gaming options
- Star Studio performance space with a music recording studio
- Classic games like air hockey, pinball, and a photo booth
- 3D printer and interactive robots
- Imaginative play materials
- Visits from special guests such as sports and entertainment personalities, artists, Master Gardeners, friendly therapy and medical dog visits, MN Zoo, and more!
Who can use The Child Life Zone?
The Child Life Zone is open to:
- Inpatients who are on standard precautions
- All other visitors who pass a health screening at the Welcome Desk:
- Outpatients visiting for appointments
- Special guests
- Sibling drop off: For siblings ages 2 years and older, we offer a convenient drop-off service supervised by our Child Life staff. This allows for up to 90 minutes of engaging playtime. To participate, all siblings need to:
- Pass a wellness screening at the Welcome Desk
- Be free from any signs of illness
Sibling drop-off is available Monday – Friday from:
- 9:30 a.m. to noon
- 2 to 4:30 p.m.
