We believe nature plays a vital role in healing and well-being. At Children’s Minnesota Minneapolis and St. Paul campuses, our garden spaces offer peaceful retreats where patients, families and staff can find moment of calm, connection and renewal. These special green spaces are designed to reduce stress, encourage resilience and provide comfort during challenging times.
Minneapolis campus: Healing garden
Children’s Minnesota — Minneapolis features a 24,000 square foot healing garden available for patients, families, visitors, staff and community members. Surrounded by a grove of aspen trees, the garden is available year-round and features walking paths, benches for resting, native plantings and five original granite sculptures created by Minnesota artists, Dan and Lee Ross.
Location
The healing garden is located outside the entrance of Children’s Minnesota Specialty Center on the corner of Chicago Avenue and 26th Street.
St. Paul campus: Children’s Hospital Association Storyland Garden
Children’s Minnesota – St. Paul campus features a 6,000 square foot rooftop garden – the Children’s Hospital Association Storyland Garden – available for patients, families, visitors and staff spring through fall 7 a.m.–9 p.m. This vibrant space offering stunning view of the James J. Hill House, the Cathedral of St. Paul and the Mississippi River bluffs – you might even catch a glimpse of a helicopter take-off or land.
The Storyland Garden is designed with everyone in mind, featuring:
- A fish water fountain
- A scooter path
- Bronze sculptures
- A unique 5-circuit labyrinth
- Artistic play sculptures and pathways that encourage physical activity and rehabilitation in a playful way
Soft music and an array of native Minnesota plants and grasses create a peaceful atmosphere where visitors can relax, eat and socialize. Outlets are located throughout the garden for powering medical equipment or charging your devices.
Location
The Storyland Garden is located on the fourth floor of Sky Tower, adjacent to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
