- Step 1: Activate your own Children’s Minnesota MyChart account.
Activate your Children’s Minnesota MyChart account. If you received an activation link from us, use it for the quickest setup. - Step 2: Request access to your child’s record.
After activating your account, you must request access to view your child’s health information. This is known as proxy access. Most requests are processed within a few business days. Learn more about proxy access. - Step 3: Download the MyChart mobile app.

What is MyChart?
On Oct. 3, MyChart became your new secure online health record at Children’s Minnesota. It replaced MyChildren’s (including the healow app).
With MyChart you will be able to:
- See all your child’s health information in one place. See your child’s medications, test results, appointments, immunization history, medical bills and more all in one place.
- Quickly schedule appointments and find care. Make appointments at your convenience, complete pre-visit tasks from home and find the nearest walk-in care or emergency room when you need it. Note: Some specialty care appointments cannot be scheduled online through MyChart.
- Connect with your child’s care team no matter where you are. Send a message, get online diagnosis and treatment, talk face-to-face over video, or arrange an in-person follow up visit, depending on the level of care you need.
- Simplify care for the whole family. If you have more than one child, you can access everyone’s health information and easily manage care for all of your children with just one login.
Is MyChart secure?
Yes, Epic’s MyChart is a safe, secure, and HIPAA-compliant platform used by healthcare systems to store and share personal medical information.
How do I request proxy access to my child's medical record?
Once your MyChart account is active, you must request access to view your child’s health information in MyChart. This is known as proxy access.
- First, log into the MyChart account you set up.
- Once logged in, click the ‘Request Record Access’ button near the top of the MyChart homepage.
- Then go to the section about requesting access and follow the instructions. It will take a few business days to get access after you submit the request.
Complete this process for each child’s record you need access to.

Where will I find MyChildren's medical records from before Oct. 3, 2026?
Medications and immunization history from before Oct. 3 will appear in MyChart. All other medical records from before Oct. 3 will not appear in MyChart. We know this is inconvenient for families and we apologize. Rest assured, your child’s care team has full access to your child’s medical records, past and present.
To view medical records from before Oct. 3, log into MyChildren’s or healow portal to view these past visits, test results and other records until March 2027.
I already have a MyChart account for my own care at another health system. Can I use the same account for Children’s Minnesota?
No. Even if you already have a MyChart account with another healthcare organization, you’ll need to set up a Children’s Minnesota MyChart account to continue managing your child’s care with us. Once your Children’s Minnesota account is set up, you can link multiple accounts within MyChart.
Does the switch to MyChart affect the online patient portal (including the healow app) at Partners in Pediatrics, Brooklyn Park, Hugo and West St. Paul primary care clinics?
Yes. As of Oct. 3, MyChart has replaced our previous online patient portals (including MyChildren’s and the healow app). You will need a MyChart account to view your child’s medical records and manage their care with us.
