Advocacy and health policy

Every day decisions are made — in the legislature and throughout the community — that impact health and health care for children. But, kids don’t always have a voice in those discussions. Children’s Minnesota has an advocacy team that calls attention to health and health care issues that impact children and their families.

What the advocacy team does

When it comes to kids’ health, our job extends beyond our hospital and clinic doors and includes advocating at the local, state and federal level for public policies and systems change to improve health for children and families.

We do this work by:

  • Ensuring Children’s Minnesota is the go-to resource for policy makers when it comes to issues that impact the health of children and families in the community.
  • Partnering with community-driven coalitions to improve systems that serve kids and families
  • Engaging and building public support to help pass laws that benefit kids and families
