Children’s libraries
Looking for something to take your mind off being in the hospital? A book can help. Children’s Minnesota offers libraries at both of our hospital campuses.
About our libraries
Our libraries provide educational and recreational books and magazines for patients of all ages — from premature infants to young adults. There’s a wide selection of books to bring smiles, giggles, knowledge, comfort, fun and the joy of reading right to your hospital room.
Each library also includes a special section of books that are used by the child life team to help patients and siblings learn about specific diagnoses/treatments, become actively involved in their hospital care, and better understand and cope with their hospital experiences.
Three ways to get books
There are three ways to get books from our libraries:
- Visit one of our libraries in person. See locations and phone numbers below. Hours vary. Please call to check the schedule.
- Choose a book from a book cart: Library volunteers make book cart rounds to inpatient floors so children and families can check out library books without leaving their rooms. (Please return books to book drops located on each floor or to the Family Resource Center on each campus.)
- Call the library: Patients and families are also welcome to call the Children’s libraries to request books.
