Pain, Palliative and Integrative Medicine

Overview

The pain, palliative care, and integrative medicine program at Children’s Minnesota features a world-class model of pain management – a combination of state-of-the-art pharmacology, physical therapy, and integrative therapies such as massage, hypnosis and acupuncture. Palliative care is provided by a multidisciplinary team focused on providing relief from the symptoms and the stresses of serious illness – partnering with the child’s family and care team to optimize quality of life.

  • Pain and other distressing symptoms
  • Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)
  • Migraines
  • Centrally-mediated abdominal pain syndrome
  • Juvenile idiopathic arthritis
  • Neurodegenerative/metabolic conditions
  • Cancer-related pain
  • Life-threatening medical illness
  • Sickle cell disease
  • Inpatient consultation services for palliative care, pain management and/or integrative care within the Children’s Minnesota hospitals 
  • Outpatient in-person or telehealth appointments in the Pain & Functional Rehabilitation Clinic, Palliative Care clinic or Integrative Medicine clinic. Home-based pediatric palliative care & hospice programs.  Both programs are exclusively pediatric & patients are able to participate whether or not they continue to receive curative therapy. 

Children’s Minnesota Physician Access is available 24/7 with a representative on the line throughout the call to assist with referrals, consultations and admissions and to provide general information: Call 866-755-2121. You can request a member of the palliative care team, pain care team and/or integrative team to assess your patient within the hospital. You can also request our services through electronic medical records.

Refer a patient to our clinics for pain, palliative and integrative care or refer a patient to our palliative or hospice home care team.
